Extension of the use of NCSO endorsement on SSPs

The October Drug Tariff contains information that confirms the transition period that allowed the use of the NCSO endorsement on prescriptions supplied under a Serious Shortage Protocol (SSP) has been extended.

It says that this transition period will now end in February 2022 to allow for January prescriptions claimed before 5th February 2022 to be included.

When a supply is made under an SSP, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) will accept either the ‘SSP’ or ‘NCSO’ endorsement on electronic, paper FP10 and EPS token claims.

After the end of the  transition period only the ‘SSP’ endorsement will be accepted by the NHSBSA on electronic and paper prescriptions. Any SSP claims made using EPS tokens after February 2022 will no longer be accepted for payment.
