Due to an agreement between the PSNC and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), pharmacy contractors can claim reimbursement for their expenditure on personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Any PPE purchased by pharmacies for use in the delivery of NHS pharmaceutical services, as a result of the COVID-19 infection control guidance between 27th February 2020 and 31st December 2020 can be claimed for, providing the PPE will be used by the end of March 2021.
Any PPE purchased directly by pharmacies from January 1st 2021 will not be reimbursable.
Contractors can order PPE free of charge for use in their pharmacy via the DHSC’s PPE portal (registration required). Free PPE will be available to the end of June 2021; a review in April will determine whether the scheme needs to be extended further.
Claims for PPE reimbursement need to be made via the NHS Manage Your Service (MYS) portal between 13th January 2021 and 12th February 2021.
