In April, we started a petition #saveourpharmacies to fight the Government for fairer funding.
You have been central in helping us reach over 12,000 signatures, but we need more to enable us to lobby Government and get the financial recognition you deserve.
That’s why on June 4th, we’re taking to the airwaves to launch a radio campaign on Heart, Classic and LBC, designed help us reach out to the public and amplify #saveourpharmacies; our ambition is to get to 100,000 signatures.
Pharmacy has proven itself time and again to be an invaluable resource, indeed there has been wide praise from our most senior politicians, including the prime minister himself.
Jo Churchill wrote an open letter to community pharmacy teams commending them for their “outstanding response to patients”, Matt Hancock extended his gratitude “you are the frontline in this war against this virus and we all pay tribute to you” and Boris Johnson thanked ‘wonderful pharmacists’ in a heartfelt video message.
Historically, praise for pharmacists and their teams has been woeful, and although it appears to be a dynamic shift in the value Government places on pharmacy, rhetoric is simply not enough.
The reality is that many community pharmacies in England are under significant financial pressure.

We would also encourage you to download and personalise our MP letter which urges them to write to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock urging for the funding that is required both now and in the longer term to keep pharmacies open.
