Golden Tote - A fundamental change in the dispensing process for decades

  • England

In August last year, PHOENIX opened MediPAC, its central dispensing facility, one of the UK’s largest automated pharmacies.

The facility provides Rowlands Pharmacies with a “hub and spoke” solution for assembling repeat prescriptions.

Continued funding pressures for communities pharmacies across the UK mean that there is a need to open up new opportunities for growth. The Government intends to shift remuneration out of the traditional dispensing model and into patient services.

By centralising repeat prescription assembly, Rowlands have been able free up time for branch colleagues to provide support, advice and healthcare services which patients want and need and which the Government is prepared to pay for.

We have for many months talked about how we can harness the technology of off-site dispensing to enable us to develop a solution for Numark members that enables them to lift their head from the dispensary bench. It is more important now than ever that members reconnect with their patients.

COVID-19 will have forever changed the way your patients value their community pharmacy team and we have a unique opportunity to shift our relationship and make pharmacy a destination for a range of healthcare advice and services.

However, we can only do this if we fundamentally change the dispensing process.
