Tariff Tip: How do I claim fees for my Foundation Trainee Pharmacist in England?

Q: How do I claim the grant for my Foundation Trainee Pharmacist in England?

A: The Pre-Registration Training funding of  £26.500 per year from 1st July 2025 for England will be payable to pharmacy contractors who provide foundation trainee pharmacists with the training experience that they need.

The process for applying for the grant is detailed in the England and Wales Drug Tariff:

.Pharmacy contractors who have undertaken to provide foundation training should submit a claim for the training period they will provide to NHS England via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal at the start of the training period. Where a contractor submits a claim by the 5th of the month after the training period begins, NHS England will arrange for the grant to be paid in 12 instalments unless the programme is a sandwich course, in which case the number of instalments will reflect the length of the training offered within each training period. Where a contractor submits a claim in a following month, NHS England will arrange for the grant to be paid in a first instalment covering the months between the date that the foundation training began and the claim submission, with remaining instalments up to the end of the training period being paid monthly in arrears. Where a claim is made by the 5th of the month, payments will be made in line with the normal pharmacy payment timetable.

Contractors MUST notify NHS England via the MYS portal if the arrangement to provide foundation training ceases.
