2. Travel risk determination

Vaccination requirements are then subject to the identification and assessment of risk. A generic travel health assessment sheet is available for download. This will help you record the advice you provide for travellers.

The consultation will determine the level of risk. This risk is quantified into:

General risk (all individuals)

This is usually for travellers going on packaged holidays with reputable tour companies or good quality accommodation and food. This includes single site holidays, beach holidays and cruises.

Medium Risk

Travellers usually going for extended holidays or where activities or places visited during the holiday might expose the traveller to a higher risk than normal. This might involve multisite holidays where trekking, safaris or expeditions to potentially unsafe locations.

High Risk

Travel assessment will apply to individuals or travellers on an extended visit to work, assignments or charity duties.
