  1. You will need to be MUR accredited to be eligible to provide NMS.
  2. There will be no additional accreditation process for NMS but you will need to complete the self assesment form

  5. Year one of the service will be October 2011 to 31st March 2012.
  6. Funding for year one will be made up of two elements - a one off implementation payment and target payments linked to prescription volume.
  7. The implementation payment will be £750 this will only be available in year one. In order to obtain this payment contractors must:
    • Complete self assessment.
    • Ensure your premises meet the requirement of the service specification (they will if they are already accredited for MURs).
    • Ensure all dispensing staff understand the service.
    • SOP for the service is in place.
    • You have spoken to local GPs about the service.
    • You have delivered NMS 6 times prior to 31 March 2012.
    The implementation payment can then be claimed via FP34.
  8. From October 2011 you will be eligible for target payments.
  9. The target payment will be based on your total monthly prescription volume, the more prescriptions dispensed each month the more NMS patients you must see to ensure payment.
  10. Numark have created a simple calculator to help you determine the number of patients you need to perform NMS on and the reimbursement you will receive.
  11.  Payment will NOT be made per individual completed NMS episode.
  12. In order to receive the minimum payment you must perform NMS on at least 20 per cent of your target number of patients each month. 
  13. Year two will run from April 2012 to March 2013.
  14. Year two target payments will be different to year one, in year two you will need to perform NMS on at least 40 per cent of your anticipated patients in order to receive your target payments
  15. There are a number of data capture and reporting requirements associated with delivering the service which you will need to record. 
  16.  If a patient is prescribed more than one new medicine at the same time the intervention will count as one episode.
  17. The patient will be eligible for an MUR six months after NMS.
