The 31st March deadline for claiming the £750 NMS implementation payment is approaching.
Contractors are required to have completed a minimum of six NMS episodes by this deadline and as it takes at least 28 days to complete an episode, you will need to recruit your patients before the end of February.
Pharmacists must complete the declaration and claim form and submit it to NHS Prescription Services.
The final date for submitting this claim to NHS Prescription Services is 5 April 2012.
Any claims submitted after this date will not be processed or paid.
The requirements for successful implementation are:
- Pharmacists have completed NMS self-assessment.
- Premises meet the requirement of the service specification (they will if they are already accredited for MURs).
- All dispensing staff understand the service. We have produced a staff guide in our NMS Toolkit.
- A SOP for the service is in place. (New Medicines Service SOP and New Medicine Service Flow Chart SOP)
- You have spoken to local GPs about the service. We have produced an Engaging with GPs guide, available in our NMS Toolkit. You can also download our NMS Introductory letter to GPs.
- You have delivered NMS 6 times prior to 31 March 2012.
